MiCA and the compliance professional
MiCA gives the EU a single, harmonised regime for crypto-asset issuers and service providers, replacing a patchwork of national approaches. Authorisation, governance and conduct duties now look much like those in traditional finance.
For compliance professionals, the familiar disciplines apply in a new context: fit-and-proper governance, disclosure, market-abuse controls, and safeguarding of client assets. The vocabulary is crypto; the obligations rhyme with MiFID.
The learning curve is less about technology than about mapping existing compliance skills onto a new asset class — which is exactly where focused, structured CPD earns its place.
